Creating: Media Arts 2nd Grade MCA: Describing Art Documentary

Students in groups of two or three will produce a 1 minute video about a media artwork of their choice, explaining basic information about it. (e.g. source, elements, ideas, and opinions) Click here to access the MCA and scoring tool.

Student DD2-1 was one of four students who worked together to produce a video responding to a stop motion animation film. Creating: Media Arts 5th Grade MCA: Media Literacy Documentary

Students will produce a 1 minute documentary video that compares and contrasts the form and content of a selected documentary or news segment (informational) with a 30 second commercial (persuasion) on a related topic by editing together images, sound and movement selections from each and adding their own interpretive text and narration. This ensemble of students worked collaboratively to create a script, video and reflection. Based on this evidence of learning, their work was scored at standard during the benchmarking process. Students JC5-15 and JC5-16 worked collaboratively on a video and script and submitted individual reflections. These students also scored themselves on an additional teacher designed rubric.
