MCA Task Description: Character Based Improvisation
Students choose a familiar character from a suggested genre (fairy tale, nursery rhyme, or other literary source) and complete a character analysis including research. Students work with an assigned partner to create a 3 minute improvised scene between their characters which they perform for feedback. The concept must describe at least two elements of theatrical design and the presentation must include written documentation as well as visual/audio samples, multimedia and/or digital artifacts. Students analyze the text of a published play, scene or monologue and apply performance skills to create a believable character in a performance that might be presented to an audience.
