Theatre High School Proficient

MCA Task Description: Character Based Improvisation

Students choose a familiar character from a suggested genre (fairy tale, nursery rhyme, or other literary source) and complete a character analysis including research. Students work with an assigned partner to create a 3 minute improvised scene between their characters which they perform for feedback. Students utilize the feedback to reflect and revise their scenes, then perform again. Click here to access the MCA and scoring tool.

MCA Task Description: Design Concept Presentation

Students research and create a design concept based on a published play, which they present to an audience of their peers and teachers, responding to questions. The concept must describe at least two elements of theatrical design and the presentation must include written documentation as well as visual/audio samples, multimedia and/or digital artifacts. MCA Task Description: Acting Performance

Students analyze the text of a published play, scene or monologue and apply performance skills to create a believable character in a performance that might be presented to an audience.
